Meeting at the Slovenian House in Brazil

On Saturday, the 6th of July, we were part of a great meeting at the Slovenian House in Brazil, located in São Paulo. This space, also known as “Slovenski dom Triglav Brazilija”, was inaugurated in October last year and its purpose is to be a space that gathers Slovenians, their descendants and sympathizers, to keep alive the history of the Slovenian community in Brazil. It centralizes the social, cultural and business activities of the community.

The meeting was attended by prominent personalities from the political world, such as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon and the Slovenian Ambassador to Brazil, Mateja Kračun, as well as the President Emeritus and Vice-President in office of the Union of Slovenians in Brazil (UEB), Martin Črnugelj and Igor Slivnik Cozzo respectively. On behalf of SLOAR we were represented by our president Martin Križ and our second vice-president Antonio Oblak.

During the meeting Martin Črnugelj said a few words of welcome, as a historical executive and one of the founding members of UEB. He was then joined by Alexander Hlebanja, the current president of SLOBRAZ. Both kindly offered us the space for any future activities that might take place in São Paulo.

We are very grateful for the opportunity to get to know this great space that was officially opened after so much work and effort. We hope to continue cooperating and writing the history of this great place together!
