On Tuesday, April 23rd, our President, Mr. Martin Kriz, paid a visit to Gaber Maderas, one of the founding companies of our Chamber. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Argentina, the Chargé d’Affaires, Igor Šef and his Economic Counselor, Tomas Kastelic.

Gaber is an Argentine company founded more than 50 years ago by the Slovenian immigrant Mariano Petkovsek. Today, he remains a very active member in the management of his company, along with his wife Maria and his daughters Mariana and Sonia.

Gaber is a company dedicated to the commercialization of solid wood, plates and veneers of national and imported origin, mainly from the Mercosur area: Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay. In addition to wood, the company is also in the business of commercializing products derived from wood, known as elaborated products, as well as selling complements, which are used for the placement and finishing of various furniture or other projects.

Over the years, what started as a small family business, managed to expand to different continents, to increase the variety and quality of its products. Thus, Gaber Maderas turned out to be the first wood trader between Argentina and Slovenia, both in import and export. These contacts continued and over the years Canada, USA, Spain, Albania, Thailand and India also joined them as suppliers.

During our visit we were able to tour the company’s facilities, among which there are several buildings. We walked through some of them, where we were shown more than 50 species of wood and veneers from all over the world. 

Today, Gaber is the leading wood supply company in Argentina, thanks to its quality and variety of products. We are very grateful for the opportunity to get to know a company with such a huge growth in the market. 

We will keep collaborating much more in the future!!!
